Safe and accurate monitoring, measuring and regulating
The increasing challenges in water distribution and treatment demand new and innovative technology to ensure high standards of drinking water and compliance with environmental regulations for wastewater.
Water is also used in every production stage in the oil and gas industry and is essential for extraction and treatment. It is also used in large quantities for refining and the production of petrochemicals for cooling water, ballast water and steam generation. Waste and contaminated water must be treated before release to meet international standards for its discharge and to safeguard the environment. With its complete range of pressure and temperature gauges, Bourdon is one of the leaders when it comes to optimum efficiency and performance in water treatment facilities.
Our measuring instruments offer strength, durability, safety and precise results in one of the most demanding sectors of the industry. Reliable measurement in wells and pressure control in pipes, pumps and filters are possible even in water polluted by solid or chemical agents.

Rugged, durable measuring instruments – for safe process control
In the complex separation and purification processes of water recovery, abrasive media and adhering solids make it more difficult for instruments to operate safely and without problems. A consistently reliable process control and operational safety has to be guaranteed just as well as compliance with increasingly demanding environmental requirements. Bourdon measuring instruments are designed to function safely and reliably even in contact with chemically contaminated water or areas at risk of explosions.
Safe monitoring and controlling
High operational safety even with high pressure loads
ATEX certification for use in Ex areas
Use of flush-mounted pressure switches as a dry run protection in the raw sludge conveyance process
Exact and safe temperature control during the sludge treatment process
Guaranteed reliable measurements even in highly polluted environments
Clean solutions in clear water. Highly accurate and long-term stable measuring instruments – clear advantages for your drinking water
Best quality, safe supply and fair distribution: The technology in use has to do its part to ensure the high standards of our drinking water. Measuring instrument solutions for drinking water storage and distribution have to show a high degree of precision, reliability and safety. The versatile solutions by Bourdon are suitable for a wide range of measuring tasks.
Safe pump and line pressure monitoring
Precise pressure monitoring and constant pressure control even with fluctuating water use
Safe dry run protection in water pumps
Maintenance-free measuring instruments to reduce operating costs
Drinking water treatment and network management applications
Corrosion-resistant measuring instruments can withstand difficult environmental conditions
The increasing demand for water in regions with low amounts of fresh water, along with the high processing cost of salt water treatment, require technology that is always setting itself new challenges. Aggressive environmental conditions require robust and corrosion resistant solutions. Bourdon process instruments are suitable for the fresh water production and distribution, available with special metal alloys to guarantee an increased robustness in aggressive environmental conditions.
Precise pressure control for safe processes
Long lifespan due to the high corrosion resistance of the used materials
Protection against running dry during water distribution due to flush-mounted pressure switches in the pumps
Constant pressure control across long distances
Pressure shock resistance due to damping fluids and accessories
A wide product range of mechanical solutions guarantees the right measuring technology for your application. Weather a water lift up station, a pump discharge monitoring, a ventilation system, a biological sludge treatment and drying, a distillation pump suction, a chlorination process, reverse osmosis or much more we have the right solution for you.
Bourdon complies with international norms and approvals
Our excellence in product quality has won us recognition with prestigious certification from many different regulatory bodies.
European directive 2014/34/EU: Equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (replaces 94/9/EC). Compliance is to be examined by a certified body and confirmed with a type examination certificate (e.g. TÜV). Bourdon declares the compliance of appropriate measurement instruments with the directive in the CE Declaration of Conformity.
Compliance with European directives. By attaching the CE mark, Bourdon declares the relevant product-specific compliance: The directives and any standards applied are to be specified in a “Declaration of Conformity” with the type designation of the device and the manufacturer’s address. With this document, which is to be presented on request, the manufacturer declares compliance on his own responsibility.
"Goods commercialized in the free trade EEC-area (Eurasian Economic Union - Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Armenia and Kirghizstan) are subject to a system of certification that lies in the development of 66 technical regulation (CU_TR or TR_TC) of the EEC. The EAC (Eurasian Conformity) Marking, proves the conformity of products."
FM Approvals is an independent global testing and certification agency. The company developed over 200 approval standards illustrating the approval criteria of various types of products and services, among others, FM 2311 for Vacuum and pressure gauges for Fire Protection Systems.
Demanding ambient conditions such as dust and water call for appropriate instrument protection rating. Bourdon specifies IP rating in the related product datasheet from IP32 to IP67.
NACE International, is recognized globally as the premier authority for corrosion control solutions. Specific Material Requirements (Eg. NACE MR0175) particularly relevant for instruments used during the extraction and processing of natural gas and crude oil. Bourdon can make recommendations for proper materials selection, rely on certified suppliers and provide material traceability, testing and certificates.
Independent organization in the US. Issues standards and tests products for compliance with special requirements, for example safety. Canadian Standards Association (CSA) is the counterpart in Canada. Listing is not mandatory for the simple sale in the United States and Canada, since our devices do not use voltages or currents that pose the risk of electrical shock or fire.
